Lebanese army evacuates residents from troubled areas in Tripoli

The Lebanese army started evacuating residents from some districts in the northern city of Tripoli to safer areas amid escalating unrest, local media reported Sunday evening.
The evacuation process coincides with mass exodus from Bab Al-Tabana neighborhood where fighting has been raging during the last two days.
Some two dozen ambulances entered the neighborhood to offer first aid to those injured in the fighting or move them to nearby hospitals.
Prime Minister Tramam Salam said in a statement earlier today that he asked the army to offer lifeline for those trapped in the conflict, save them from the terrorist crimes in the city and restore calm to the city.
Bab Al-Tabana has been the scene of fierce deadly between the army and militiamen since Friday.
