
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ramtane Lamamra highlighted in Montreal, the need to launch consultations with the Algerian community abroad to lead to a strategy which sets out the rights and duties, beyond management and consular protection, the Foreign ministry said Wednesday in a communiqué.
Lamamra underlined the need to to initiate a process of consultation with the various segments of the Algerian community abroad in all countries, to lead to "the drawing up of a strategy or partnership charter between it and the mother country, which set out the rights and duties, beyond management and consular protection."
"Such a broad and inclusive process should lead to a framework for consultation and presentation of the project to the high authorities for approval," he said.
This statement was made by Lamamra after his meeting with members of the Algerian community in the province of Quebec.
Speaking to representatives of associations and other eminent personalities and national skills, the minister reaffirmed "priority" the Algerian state grants to the national community abroad, stressing the efforts and resources to "respond efficiently" to the needs of Algerian nationals.
He noted the program of the President of the Republic has a section devoted to the national community abroad, which "is fully reflected in the government’s action."
