
Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim here on Sunday presided over a meeting of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries' MPs to have a single stance on issues to be discussed during an Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) conference due here today.
They also reviewed a host of issues tabled on the IPU's agenda, including the election of the IPU's president as well as suggestions by Gulf parliamentarians.
The meeting aimed at coordinating stances and unifying visions among the Gulf MPs. Later in the day, Al-Ghanim will also preside over Arab and Islamic coordinative meetings.
The Kuwait parliamentary delegation includes Faisal Al-Shaya, Saleh Ashour, Seif Al-Azmi, Abdullah Al-Turaiji and Allam Al-Kandari.
MPs are participating in the 131st IPU meeting in which the President and Vice-Presidents of the 131st Assembly are to be elected. MPs also will consider in the conference gender equality and ending violence against women.
In addition, they will discuss a host of significant subjects and matters, including peace and international security, sustainable development, finance and trade, democracy and human rights.
