A delegation of the Kuwaiti "journey of hope" expedition has arrived in New York as part of the global tour aimed at luring attention to plight of the mentally disabled.
The delegation that came in by air was received at the airport by the Kuwaiti acting charge d'affaires, Abdulaziz Al-Ajmi.
The delegation is scheduled to attend a luncheon, to be organized by the Kuwaiti permanent delegate to the UN, Ambassador Mansour Al-Otaibi, and meet US officials in Washington next week.
They will return to New York on August 6 to meet UN officials and deliver them "the journey message," calling for greater international attention to the mentally challenged and necessity of integrating them into the societies.
The expedition had gotten underway at sea in early May, under sponsorship of His Highness the Amir. A large boat used for the global journey had docked at several ports across the world.
