The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister's visit to the Palestinian territories is significant because it manifests Kuwait's support for the Palestinian leadership and people under current hard circumstances, the Palestinian Ambassador to Jordan affirmed.
The visit by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to Ramallah "is historic at these times where the Palestinian people are being targeted with fierce aggression," said Ambassador Atallah Khairi in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), as the Kuwaiti Minister arrived here and proceeded to final destination of his mission, Ramallah.
This is the first visit by a Kuwaiti official to Palestine which has always viewed the State of Kuwait as the major backer for the Palestinian leadership and people, particularly amid the current difficult conditions, the Palestinian Ambassador here said.
Kuwait has embraced the Palestinian cause since a long time ago, Ambassador Khairi said, adding Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled's visit "would affirm anew the historic role played by the sisterly State of Kuwait in support of the Palestinian cause and people, particularly at the current sensitive times." The foreign minister arrived at the airport in Amman, where he was welcomed by the Palestinian diplomat, the Kuwaiti Ambassador to the Kingdom, Dr. Hamad Al-Duaij, and officials. Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled immediately continued his trip in direction of the West Bank town.
For his part, the Kuwaiti Ambassador underlined importance of the visit for bolstering the Kuwaiti-Palestinian ties.
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has given instructions to the national authorities to support the Palestinian people and help them attain their rights, namely liberation of their territories and establishing their independent state, he added.
