Kuwaiti emir launched first Arab developmental summit in 2009

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah made the first Arab initiative, by announcing the allocation of a USD 500 million fund to support developmental projects, during the Arab Summit for Economic and Social Development which was held in Kuwait in 2009.
In that summit, many Kuwaiti humanitarian initiatives were introduced through Kuwait Declaration in order to improve living conditions of Arab citizens, to prioritize joint Arab investments and to allow private sectors and civic communities to participate in the Arab social and economic developmental projects.
