
It is important for international endeavors aimed at achieving a political solution to the Syrian conflict continue, said His highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on Thursday.
Addressing the General Assembly meeting in a speech, His Highness the Premier warned against the escalation of violence there, which has already killed over 190,000, displaced some six million and forced three million others to seek refuge in neighboring countries.
Kuwait hosted two donor conferences to help the Syrian people in 2013 and 2014, where pledges amounted to some USD 3.8 billion, of which Kuwait contributed USD 800 million - the delivery of which has been completed in full to UN special agencies and NGOs.
His Highness the Prime Minister underlined the importance that these endeavors continued in order to achieve a political solution to the conflict in line with the communique of the Geneva I conference - in a manner that preserved the unity, security and stability of Syria.
