The State of Kuwait presented here on Saturday a working paper on its efforts in the field of social security during the Fourth GCC Festival for Social Work, which kick-started here on Wednesday.
The Kuwaiti document featured Kuwait's social development policies and social care systems, the chief of the family care department of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, Musallam Al-Sebei, told Kuna.
"The paper has proved that social development policies are not an option but an ineluctable necessity due to its connection with human existence and life quality," he said.
Accordingly, such policies should be given much attention in order to answer the needs of individuals, cut differences among them, attain a considerable level of social justice and equity, maintain societal stability and shore up social cohesion and unity, he added.
Kuwait's social development policies are a main pillar for sustainable human development and such a philosophy has turned into key principles in the Constitution of the State of Kuwait, Al-Sebei boasted.
The working paper also included major policies aiming to develop social care and development systems in Kuwait's 2009-2014 development plan, he pointed out.
The Fourth GCC Festival for Social Work mainly aims at discussing difficulties facing social work in the GCC, seeking a host of rules to regulate it in addition to enhancing the non-official and voluntary contribution in its activities.
The Fourth GCC Festival will honor pioneers of social work for their distinguished role serving their societies and caring for people's concerns and needs.
