Kuwait's ambassador to the US Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has affirmed that his country is committed to fighting terrorism, and that the Kuwaiti government has taken "important and serious steps in this regard." Following the terrorist designation of three Kuwaiti individuals for their financing of extremist groups by the US Department of the Treasury on Wednesday, he said that the Kuwaiti government is "approving a law to combat terrorist activity and financing, and is establishing the mechanisms to implement it." "Kuwait continues to work with the US and the international community to combat this dangerous phenomenon," he said, adding that he is following up on the matter closely with the US Department of State.
Due to Kuwait's "distinctive" bilateral relations with the United States, the issue will be discussed "openly and transparently, in a manner that fosters the strategic relationship and fosters it," he further noted.
