Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh on Friday met with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and discussed bilateral cooperation in various fields. The meeting also dealt with the situation in Syria and its humanitarian consequences on Jordan and Lebanon, where Judeh and Berri urged the international community to support the two countries in hosting the Syrian refugees. Judeh stressed the need to find a political solution to the crisis in Syria to stop the bloodshed, calling on the international community to shoulder its responsibility in this regard. Berri commended efforts Jordan exerts, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II to solve the Syrian crisis, expressing his country's support of Jordan's efforts. Judeh also met with Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Adnan Mansour and discussed regional developments, especially the situation in Syria. The two officials voiced keenness to continue coordination and cooperation on various common concern issues, mainly the Syrian crisis. They also discussed joint challenges the two countries face including the increasing number of the Syrian refugees, calling on the international community to shoulder its responsibility towards the Syrian people. In a joint press conference, Judeh and Mansour underlined the need to find joint mechanisms and unify visions on the Syrian crisis. Judeh stressed Jordan's position which calls for stopping the bloodshed and starting a peaceful power transition process that maintains Syria's territorial and people unity and includes all components of the society. He also highlighted the negative repercussions of the Syrian crisis on Jordan, which hosts more than 400,000 Syrian refugees. Mansour noted the joint challenges facing the two countries, stressing keenness to cooperate with Jordan in this respect.
