Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh discussed on Wednesday with his Lebanese counterpart Gibran Bassil, Jordanian-Lebanese ties as well as developments in the Gaza Strip in the light of the continued Israeli aggression.
Judeh voiced Jordan's support to efforts that aim at achieving a permanent ceasefire based on the Egyptian initiative.
The two ministers also reviewed the situation in Syria and its humanitarian reflections on Jordan and Lebanon as a result of hosting a large number of Syrian refugees.
They urged the international community to shoulder its responsibilities and help Syria's neighboring countries, stressing the need to arrive at a political solution that guarantees the country's security and territorial integrity.
In a press statement following the meeting, Judeh hailed relations between Jordan and Lebanon and stressed the need to further boost them in various fields.
Both countries, he added, face similar challenges, mainly the Syrian crisis which is having humanitarian repercussions on both Jordan and Lebanon.
"We have agreed to continue political coordination and consultations in the interest of both the countries and deal with the economic burden being shouldered by the two countries as a result of hosting the refugees," Judeh said.
The minister noted that the Joint Jordanian-Lebanese committee will meet soon to discuss relations between the two countries in various fields as well as ways to further bolster them.
The Lebanese minister said both Jordan and Lebanon share common challenges and work to address them, mainly the Palestinian issue.
He voiced the hope that a political solution will be reached in Syria that will secure the return of Syrian refugees hosted by Jordan and Lebanon.
