The "Journey of Hope" boat left the Omani Bander Al-Roda Port Wednesday sailing to the United Arab Emirates in a new stop in its around-the-world marine excursion to show the world Kuwait's experiment in caring for mentally disabled people.
The expedition participants were seen off at the Omani harbor by Kuwaiti Ambassador Fahad Hejer Al-Mutairi and several local officials.
"The expedition's mission in Oman was very successful," Ambassador Al-Mutairi told KUNA.
"Omani officials have shown great interest in the journey and its noble goals." He pointed out that the boat has sailed to Abu Dhabi Port, its last stop before returning to Kuwait.
The marine excursion reflects Kuwaiti government's interest in supporting all nativities aiming to improve the skills and integrate this important segment into the whole society, he said.
It had gotten underway in Kuwait in early May, passing through over 20 countries and 39 ports.
Over 22 celebratory events are held at intervals in all ports en route with a view to unifying people of all cultures and religions towards a collective effort to care for and benefit those with intellectual disability everywhere.
