Anti-Narcotics Department (AND)
Amman - Petra

Anti-Narcotics Department and Ramtha Police Directorate on Wednesday thwarted an attempt to smuggle nearly half a million Captagon pills in the northern city of Ramtha as a result of an operation tracking a number of dealers of these lethal substances.
Jordan Public Security Directorate's media center said in a statement that the Anti-Narcotics Department personnel received a tip off about the intention of a group of people to smuggle large quantities of narcotic pills into a neighboring country, following which a special team from the Directorate of Ramtha Police and the Anti-Narcotics Department began monitoring the suspects' movements.
As a result of the investigations and monitoring, the team found that the group has purchased large quantities of paint cans and stored them in a warehouse in Ramtha, according to the statement. It added that they prepared secret cavities inside the cans in order to hide the pills in these and then smuggle them.
The statement concluded that after documenting all the information, the police raided the site, apprehended the smugglers and seized the paint cans which contained nearly half a million narcotic pills, noting that the investigation was still ongoing and police was in pursuit of others involved in the crime.
