
His Majesty King Abdullah II sent a letter to Iraqi President Fuad Masum congratulating him for entrusting Dr. Haider al-Abadi with forming the new Iraqi government.
In his letter, the King stressed Jordan's full support to Iraq and its commitment towards its unity, noting that the formation of the new government is an important and serious step along the path of building Iraq, enabling it to enhance its unity, achieving reconciliation among all its segments, fulfilling aspirations of its people in the spirit of pluralism and democracy and to ensure a prosperous future so that Iraq can play its vital role at regional and international levels.
"We voice our full confidence in the awareness and cohesiveness of the Iraqi people and its ability to overcome challenges and preserve its unity," the King added, noting that Jordan, which has historical and strong brotherly ties with Iraq, will always remain its strong supporter and its stances will be in the interest of its people.
Jordan, His Majesty said, will support efforts to strengthen Iraq's internal front and ensure the participation of everyone in a national political process that enhances the feeling that they are true partners in building their country and its future.
King Abdullah stressed the importance of continuing coordination and consultations with Iraq and boost relations in all fields in the interest of both the peoples.
