Jordan welcomed the comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza between the Palestinians and the Israelis which went into effect last night.
The Cabinet stressed during today's session, chaired by Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, that the ceasefire between the two sides will help save the lives of innocent Palestinians.
It added that that the opening of border crossings between the Gaza Strip and Israel, a move that coincided with the ceasefire, will accelerate the delivery of humanitarian and relief aid and the entry of construction materials into the coastal enclave.
The cabinet highlighted the political and diplomatic efforts undertaken by His Majesty King Abdullah II with all concerned parties to put an end to the Israeli aggression against Gaza and support efforts in this regard.
It reiterated the need to find a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue that contributes towards fulfilling the aspirations of the Palestinians, foremost being the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
