Doha - Petra

Jordan on Tuesday took part in a joint meeting between foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states that aims to bolster ties between the Gulf Arab states and the Kingdom and Morocco.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatraite Affairs Nasser Judeh stressed the depth of ties between Jordan and the GCC states in various domains, stressing the Kingdom's keenness to bolster these ties.
He also thanked the GCC states for the $5 billion five-year grant to Jordan, which will help execute priority projects and enable the Kingdom to face economic challenges, which deepened as a result of hosting more than 1.4 million Syrian refugees.
The foreign minister also spoke the marathon meetings of the joint Jordanian-GCC committees over the past months to enhance ties between the two sides.
Judeh also spoke about the latest developments in the Middle East and the challenges facing the regional countries, mainly the terrorism and extremism, stressing the importance of unity among the regional countries to fight terrorism and defend the true image of Islam.
On Palestine, the minister reiterated that the Palestinian cause remains the core of the conflict in the Middle East. Further, he stressed that Jordan will continue to defend Jerusalem and its holy places. Further, he rejected the unilateral Israeli measures in the holy city.
On Syria, the foreign minister underlined Jordan's stance which calls for finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis to end the suffering of the Syrian people and restore security and stability to the Arab nation. Judeh highlighted the humanitarian role played by Jordan to serve the Syrian refugees, noting that the international community support is not enough to deal with the repercussions of the Syrian crisis on Jordan.
On Iraq, Judeh said that Jordan throws its weight behind the efforts of the Iraqi people to restore their security and stability, stressing that a secure and stable Iraq is a key pillar to the regional security and stability.
