
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh on Monday met with UAE Minister of International Cooperation and Development Sheikha Lubna Al-Qasimi and discussed issues of common concern, particularly the Syrian crisis.
Judeh tackled the human impact of the crisis on Jordan, which is currently hosting 600,000 Syrian refugees, putting enormous pressure on the country’s infrastructure.
He also expressed appreciation for the United Arab Emirates’ support for Jordan, stressing the importance of the international community shouldering its responsibility to deliver more assistance to enable the Kingdom to continue its humanitarian role with the Syrian refugees.
Judeh renewed Jordan’s calls for a political solution to the crisis to ensure the safety, security and territorial integrity of Syria, with the participation of all components of the Syrian people.
The Emirati minister stressed her country’s willingness to support Jordanian efforts to help and protect the Syrian refugees.
