A joint army and police committee decided to activate the President’s decree declaring the state of emergency and curfew for three months starting Saturday in some parts of North Sinai.
This came in a statement after a joint committee meeting which was attended by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Defense Minister General Sedki Sobhi, Chief of Staff Mahmoud Hegazy, Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim and a number of senior commanders.
The meeting also agreed on coordinating efforts to combat terrorism in all Egypt’s territories especially in Sinai.
Meanwhile, the committee asserted it will take all urgent procedures that aim to bring perpetrators to justice as soon as possible.
