A fire broke out at an electronics store in the northern city of Irbid on Saturday destroying hundreds of appliances and thus causing heavy damage, but there were no reports of injuries, according to the Civil Defence Department (CDD).
A statement issued by the CDD said its rescue and fire-fighting crews rushed to the scene of the fire near a key square in the city and put out the blaze which engulfed part of the 1,000-square-metre store.
It said about 350 refrigerators and washing machines were gutted in the fire before it was brought under control, adding that a committee has been set up to look into the cause of the blaze.
