Iraqi MP escapes assassination attempt

Hamid al-Mutlaq, MP of Iraqiya List, escaped an assassination attempt targeted his motorcade at Al-Nasir wel-Salam area at Abu Ghraib district , west of Baghdad. Mutlaq said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that as he returned from Anbar province, on the road to Abu Ghraib, 100 meters from an army checkpoint, an explosive device detonated on his car. He noted that the explosion injured two members of the bodyguards, and caused major damage in the car.
