The Iraqi Foreign Ministry on Tuesday lauded the stance by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz, condemning sedition and the crimes committed in the name of religion.
A Ministry statement referred to remarks by King Abdullah on August 1 in which he stressed that it is shameful and disgraceful that "these terrorists are doing this in the name of religion, killing the people whose killing Allah has forbidden, and mutilating their bodies and feeling proud in publishing this." The King noted that terrorists "have distorted the image of Islam with its purity and humanity and smeared it with all sorts of bad qualities by their actions, injustice and crimes." The Iraqi Ministry referred in that context to the "terrorist attack led by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), targeting Arabism and Islam." "Terrorism is taking various forms, groups and organisations, under the nose of the international community, with all its institutions and organisations, that seem not concerned with the killing, displacement and targeting places of worship and religious minorities in Iraq and the region, as well as the flagrant violations of human rights and crimes against humanity," the Iraqi ministry statement said.
It also urged the world countries, especially Arab and Muslim, to clearly condemn terrorist acts against the innocent people, and to coordinate efforts for drying up sources of terrorism.
