The leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ali Akbar Velayati, described Prime Minister Saad Hariri's most recent statements as absolute "Saudi dictates."
"In our last meeting, Hariri never mentioned anything about the need to have Iran refrain from meddling in Lebanon's affairs," Velayati said.
"Talks during our last meeting were neither threatening nor challenging," Velayati said, citing this part of Hariri's resignation statement as an example that Hariri was only repeating Saudi Arabia's dictates.
"Those are the words of the Saudis who are not prepared witness Lebanon live in security, stability and friendship between the Iranian and Lebanese peoples," he added.
He went on to rule out accusations that the meeting had been an opportunity to threaten Hariri.
"Hariri actually suggested mediating between the KSA and Iran, but we told him that we have no problem with the KSA," Velayati said, adding that Iran's role in the Yemeni had nothing to do with politics but was rather more a humanitarian one
