An international conference on torture by French colonial forces against the Algerian people during the national armed Revolution will be held to mark the 60th anniversary of the outbreak of 1st November 1954 Revolution, announced Tuesday Minister of Mujahideen (liberation war veterans) Tayeb Zitouni.
The conference is part of the efforts to preserve the national memory, said the minister during his visit to the regional museum of Mujaheed in Skikda (east of Algiers) on the sidelines of the official festivities marking the National Day of Mujaheed, observed every 19 August.
On this occasion, the regional museum was named after the late mujaheed Ali Kafi.
The minister also gave instructions to collect testimonies of mujahideen and archives on the revolution in the region.
