The Ministry of Interior apprehended 30 suspects in 17 cases related to drug smuggling and trafficking in the last three months of 2016, a senior official revealed.
''The ministry seized 3,814,000 Captagon pills, 21kg of hallucination pills and hashish. An attempt to smuggle over three million narcotic pills was foiled during this period,'' said Colonel Saeed Al Suwaidi, Director-General, Anti-Narcotics Federal Directorate General at the Ministry of Interior.
''The criminals thought they could get away with their crimes,'' he added.
''The arrests and seizures have shown the exceptional ability, vigilance and expertise of the Ministry of Interior personnel in preserving the nation's resources, protecting the community and preventing its youth from falling prey to addiction,'' he affirmed.
