Interior Minister Hussein Majali said on Sunday that the security situation in Jordan and along its borders is good and that the Kingdom is stable, facing no real threats.
Briefing the cabinet on the country's security, Majali said that the government, Jordan Armed Forces and security agencies are closely monitoring the situation in neighboring countries and have been taking precautions to tighten control on the borders to ward off any dangers.
In a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, the Council of Ministers noted that Jordan, which had been a target of terrorist organizations both internally and externally, is working to build a solid internal front to counter terrorism, adding that the Kingdom has been in coordination with its allies on terrorist threats.
The ministers said they are confident of the ability of the armed forces and security bodies to stand up to terrorist organizations and ensure the citizens' security, noting that every citizen is a member of the security forces in their effort to safeguard the country from the evils of terrorism.
The cabinet also warned against rumour-mongers of an existing security threat in some areas of the capital and elsewhere in the country, dismissing such rumours as groundless, but they should be taken with utmost seriousness and vigilance.
Also during today's meeting, ministers reviewed recommendations by the cabinet's Services, Infrastructure and Social Affairs Committee on the 2014 annual report of the Civil Service Bureau (CSB).
The cabinet gave its support to the CSB's plan to open branches in the North and South of the country in coordination with the Ministry of Education.
However, the cabinet failed to approve the amount of JD100,000 as a bonus hike for CSB staff for extra work assigned recently to the bureau, citing financial strains to the treasury.
