Injured Yemenis arrive in India for treatment at UAE expense
New Delhi - Arab Today

Scores of Yemenis injured in a war launched by the Houthi militias arrived in the Indian capital this evening for treatment at the expense the UAE’s humanitarian assistance programme in Yemen.

The arrival of the latest group of patients marks a significant expansion in the UAE’s charitable initiatives in Yemen by adding a fourth hospital in India to accommodate injured Yemenis. The latest arrivals in New Delhi will go to Fortis Hospital in India’s National Capital Region, better known as NCR.

Previous groups of injured Yemenis who have benefited from UAE’s efforts to help victims of the attacks by Houthi militias on the Yemeni people were treated at three establishments of Rockland Hospital in the NCR region. Rockland Hospitals in India are subsidiaries of Abu Dhabi’s Burjeel Hospital.

The victims were ferried for treatment in India today by a UAE Air Force C-17 military transport plane specially outfitted with high-tech medical equipment and carrying doctors to deal with emergencies mid-air.

Ambulances and specially-equipped buses swiftly transported the injured Yemenis to hospitals after UAE diplomats received them and made their passage of hope easier with their warmth and compassion.

The injured Yemenis were brought to India at the initiative of the Emirates Red Crescent. The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has borne the entire cost of transporting the war casualties and their treatment at Rockland Hospital.

Large crowds of Indians gathered outside a special area of the airport complex designated by the Indian government for transferring on to ambulances the arriving Yemenis, marvelling at the compassion and generosity of the UAE in providing such humanitarian assistance.
