
The International Gulf Organization for Human Rights (IGO)'s Chairman Mansour Eisa Lootah called on the Bahraini people to effectively participate in the Kingdom of Bahrain's 2014 parliamentary, municipal elections on Saturday, November 22.
He urged all voters to place national considerations above all other affiliations, respect the rights and beliefs of others and uphold democratic practice affirming that Bahrain has been known as a pioneering democratic country in the region.
He said that failure to participate in the elections means refrainment from exercising political rights which does not contribute to developing the democratic experience nor political development in Bahrain.
He said that all Bahraini citizens should build the current national project which binds together all national, political parties and to achieve national reconciliation so as to ensure the continuity of the democratic march initiated by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
He cited the significant role of civil society organisations in supporting and encouraging the electorate to participate in Bahrain's elections. He urged refrainment from politicking by some political societies and civil society representatives of this basically national process. He warned against submission to foreign agendas or unpatriotic inclinations which target the very soul of national co-existence and adversely affects and seeks to jeopardize the society's nucleus.
He stressed the importance of the democratic parliamentary experience and cooperation between the legislature, the executive branch and the judiciary so as to accomplish in the field of respecting, boost human rights and prompt justice, also stressing the importance of mutual building of the future which is a crucial factor that ensures the maturity and successfulness of the democratic experience and the welfare of Bahrain and all of its citizens.
