His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa issued Edict 32/2017 on restructuring the National Committee for Standards and Metrology, under the chairmanship of the Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister.


The committee comprises the Deputy CEO for Petroleum Production and Industries at the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA), Director of the Standards and Metrology at the Industry, Commerce and Tourism Ministry, Director of Customs Clearance and Follow-up at the Interior Ministry’s Customs Affairs, Director of Electricity and Water Conservation at the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), Director of Material Engineering at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, and Director of Public Health at the Ministry of Health.

Experts Engineer Lama Abbas Al-Mahroos and Chancellor Mohammed Ahmed Mijbal, as well as the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI)’s Second Deputy Chairman, Abdulhamid Abduljabbar Al-Kooheji, and board members Ali Hassan Mahmoud and Ahmed Sabah Al-Salloom were also appointed members of the National Committee for Standards and Metrology for renewable four-year terms.

The edict stipulates that the committee shall elect its deputy chairman, who will replace the chairman in case of absence.

Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister shall implement the edict, which takes immediate effect, and will be published in the Official Gazette.

HRH Premier also issued Edict 33/2017 on re-forming the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Internet Exchange (BIX), under the chairmanship of Shaikh Badr bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.

Musa’ab Ahmed Abdulla will be the deputy chairman, while Colonel Mohammed Abdullatif Al-Mahmoud, Taha Mahmoud Faqihi and Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa will be members for a renewable one-year term.
