The House of Representatives approved on Monday with an overwhelming majority presidential decree 487 of 2016 on extending the state of emergency in some areas in North Sinai as of October 31.
The decision to extend the state of emergency came after the house general committee reviewed a report on the state of emergency in North Sinai, which was backed by all committee members.
The committee asserted the danger of the terrorist groups is not restricted to army and police personnel but also targets civilians, public property and the integrity of the country's territories.
The committee shed light on the vital importance of Sinai as the eastern gate of Egypt.
Prime Minister Sherif Ismail had said the extension of the state of emergency came in the aftermath of confrontations with the terrorist groups in some parts of Sinai.
