Former prime minister Hisham Qandil was deported from Tora Prison to the Giza Police HQ Tuesday.
The prisons department had received a notification from the prosecution to set him free following a court ruling issued yesterday to that effect.
The Cassation Court upheld Qandil's challenge against a previous court verdict sentencing him to one year in prison for not implementing a court order.
A source at the prisons department told MENA Qandil was sent to the Giza Police HQ to crosscheck him for criminal records before letting him go.
