The Board of Directors of the Arab Labour Organisation (ALO) has elected Saqr bin Ghobash Saeed Ghobash, Minister of Labour, as chairman for a one-year term.
Ghobash was elected during the ALO's 81st meeting, held in Abu Dhabi last Thursday, in the presence of representatives of governments, employers and employees.
Ghobash extended his thanks to members of the ALO's Board of Directors for electing him chairman of the Board of Directors, while praising the efforts of the previous Board.
In his remarks on the margin of the Board meeting, Ghobash said, ''Electing me to this post represents the Arab countries' respect of the role being played by the UAE, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in the enhancement of joint Arab work and continuous striving to achieve the aspirations of the Arab peoples." He also stressed the importance of maintaining constant co-operation with ALO Board members, which contributes to enhancing its objectives, particularly in light of the current challenges facing the Arab labour market.
Also, ALO's Director, Ahmed Luqman, commended the role played by the UAE through its participation in various ALO activities, dating back to when the organisation was established.
