Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Abdullatif Al-Zayani on Saturday strongly decried Israel's recently announced plans to build 1,000 new housing units in East Jerusalem.
Israel's persistence on building more settler homes in the West Bank and East Jerusalem " represents its implacable insistence on violating the international law or the relevant international resolutions, but also elaborates undermining of the two-state solution, aborting all efforts seeking peaceful settlement of the existing conflict," Al-Zayani said in a press statement.
He also condemned the recent reckless measures by the Israeli authorities in Al-Aqsa Mosque, preventing Palestinians from praying in it, to be added to the former similar violations.
Al-Zayani urged the international community to take deterrent procedures against Israel's "continuous violations which contribute to providing a favorable environment for extremism and terrorism.
