A French diplomatic source on Tuesday hailed the pivotal role Egypt plays in the Middle East peace process.
Egypt is an important partner to France, and could not be ignored, the source said in statements.
The source noted that French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault will visit Cairo on Wednesday for consultations with the Egyptian side.
Ayrault will have bilateral talks with Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and present a French peace initiative during a meeting with his counterparts of an Arab League committee on peace talks comprising Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Palestine, the source said.
