Egypt considers the arrival of the Libyan national unity government to Tripoli "an important step on the road to a political solution," Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said Thursday.
In a statement, Abu Zeid highlighted the importance of preserving the Libyan institutions involved in the Libyan political accord.
The Libyan parliament is also to be empowered to its shoulder responsibility towards its duties, in continuation of the UN-sponsored political process, he said.
The presidential council has to work on providing an atmosphere that would allow the government to work in suitable conditions under the protection of the state's official institutions in order to preserve Libya's unity, he added.
Facing Daesh among other terrorist organizations operating in Libya represents a priority for the new government in the coming state, along with meeting the political, economic and social aspirations of the Libyan people, Abu Zeid concluded.
