Cairo - MENA

Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Badr Abdel-Ati said Tuesday the ministry was in close contact with the Libyan authorities to monitor the status of Egyptians living in Libya and verify the rumors about finding an Egyptian citizen shot dead by gunmen, in Boatni district of Benghazi, eastern Libya. The spokesman reiterated Egypt's demand from the Libyan authorities to intensify efforts to provide maximum protection and security for Egyptian citizens, and to arrest the perpetrators of the assault on Egyptian citizens and bring them to justice.Abdel-Ati warned Egyptians in Libya or traveling to there to be cautious and travel only out of necessity and to use air travel after obtaining the proper visa issued from the Libyan Embassy in Cairo. He said that Egyptian citizens can contact the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Consular section) when exposed to any problem on phone numbers (0020) 25772500 or 25777101.
