Two people were arrested and many objects were seized by the National People’s Army as part of the measures for securing the borders and fighting against smuggling and organized crime, said Monday the Ministry of National Defence in a communiqué.
As part of the measures for securing borders and fighting against smuggling and organized crime, a detachment of the People’s National Army of Ain Amenas (4th Military Region) seized, today 24 November 2014, following a reconnaissance patrol, an all-terrain vehicle as well as other objects,” added the source.
“Another detachment of the National Gendarmerie under the El-Oued operational sector apprehended yesterday, 23 November 2014, two people and seized a truck loaded with 10.890 bottles of alcoholic beverages for smuggling,” said the communiqué.
“On the same day, another detachment of the border guards of the Djanet operational sector arrested four illegal immigrants from different nationalities,” said the ministry who added that “another detachment coming under El Oued operational sector seized six motorcycles.”
At the level of the sixth military region, “a detachment of the National People’s Army, coming under the operational sector of Tamanrasset and in coordination with the Algerian Customs, seized 2.250 liters of fuel,” said the communiqué.
