Member of the Central Committee of Fatah Jamal Muheisen denied Saturday claims which alleged that Egypt has rejected hosting Palestinian reconciliation meetings between Fatah and Hamas.
"The news is totally bare of truth," Muheisen said in statements to a local radio station.
A Hamas-owned local newspaper claimed Muheisen said Cairo rejected to host the meetings.
Senior Fatah official Azzam Al-Ahmed said Saturday his movement adhered to its position that Egypt remained the sponsor of the Palestinian reconciliation.
Earlier, the Egyptian foreign ministry denied as unfounded reports that Egypt refused to host the Palestinian meetings in Cairo, adding that the reports were "not consistent with Egypt’s well-known role regarding the Palestinian case".
