Algerian Front for Development, Freedom and Equality (FADLE) urges all the parties invited by the presidency of the Republic to enrich the constitutional revision project to "favourably" respond to the invitation and join the consultations, dubbing it a "national duty," the party's leader Tayeb Yennoune has said.
"Enriching the constitution is a duty for all those who have been invited to take part in the consultations, as it is our country's call, especially as the participants will make no commitment and will have an opportunity express their ideas," The president of the FADLE said, at the end of his meeting with the minister of State, principle private secretary to the presidency of the Republic, Ahmed Ouyahia, who is leading the consultations about the constitutional revision project.
Yennoune said that the FADLE made about twenty proposals, adding that all parties agree on the need to establish a rule of law based on strengthened individual and collective freedoms as well as complementarity and interaction among the institutions.
In a document it sent to the media, Algerian Front for Development, Freedom and Equality cites a number of proposals it has made to Ouyahia, including the constitutionalization of a "political ethics" body to deal with political parties' deviations.
The document also includes proposals to constitutionalize a law criminalizing colonialism and making Berber language, one of national identity components, an official language and to uphold, again, the law on putting Arabic language into general use.
