Assistant Interior Minister for Media Affairs General Abdel Fattah Othman denied reports on defusing an explosive charge found inside a car parked at Ismail Hegazi and Mansour crossroad in the vicinity of the Interior Ministry.
In statements to MENA, General Othman said a security patrol suspected an unplated car that was parked in the area not far from the ministry's building.
Sappers were immediately summoned to check whether the car contained any explosive materials, he added.
In the meantime, the official said security patrols notified the ministry that they have found a suspicious bag at July 26 street in the surrounding of the Higher Court House, propelling security forces to cordon off the site.
The bag was found to contain ten bottles filled with petrol with no wires or electrical circuits connected to them.
