Meeting at Ministry of Infrastructure Development
Dubai - Arab Today

The Executive Housing Indicators Group, which is responsible for calculating the percentage of public home ownership and waiting times for public residential and housing support, held its second periodic meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of Infrastructure Development in Dubai, in the presence of Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development.

The meeting was attended by Eng. Hassan Al Mansouri, Ministry of Infrastructure Development Acting Under-Secretary; Eng. Jamila Al Fendi, Director-General of Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme; Eng. Khalifa Al Tanaiji, Chairman of the Sharjah Housing Department; as well as members of the executive group from the Ministry of Interior, the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority, and other authorities.

Dr. Al Nuaimi praised the group’s suggestions during the first meeting, and stressed that the UAE leadership considers the government housing sector to be a priority sector. He added that these indicators are important due to their relationship to the happiness, stability and safety of citizens’ families. He also stressed that the nation’s achievements in government housing, during a short period, required an increased rate of development to preserve its accomplishments.

He stressed that the UAE leadership does not accept middle solutions in terms of providing citizens with a good life, and that housing is considered one of the main concerns of the government. He also highlighted the necessity of joint efforts between different national housing authorities and co-ordination between local authorities and federal ministries, to achieve UAE Vision 2021.

The participants identified the common definitions of "family" and "house", and agreed on the unification of UAE housing authorities, which will contribute in achieving the national agenda’s goals and UAE Vision 2021.

Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, directed the formation of the national agenda’s executive groups last October, from 550 officials that represent various authorities and sectors, to achieve 52 national indices to measure the nation’s achievements in realising leadership, happiness and prosperity in society, within the framework of 6 national priorities that include health, education, economy, environment, infrastructure and society, security and justice.

The executive groups should initiate comprehensive work plans that include long-term, mid-term and short-term initiatives. They should also supervise the implementation of these plans using creative tools, and co-ordinate with different international and government authorities to guarantee implementation, performance results and to draft periodic reports on their programmes.
