Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, has stressed that the ERC’s local and international humanitarian and charitable programmes and projects are widely supported and backed.

Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the generosity of the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, while emphasising the Authority’s giving in the name of good faith that promoted its humanitarian work, which has reached many vulnerable and marginalised communities around the world.

During a meeting headed by His Highness yesterday, he stated that the ERC’s Board of Directors will spare no effort to achieve its humanitarian goals, through its expansion programmes that serve its target groups. It will also work in cooperation with charitable individuals and the strategic supporters of its various projects, to achieve greater local and international humanitarian successes, Sheikh Hamdan added.

He also praised the role of the ERC’s Board of Directors in guiding the authority’s development towards further improvements in performance while calling on its members to plan initiatives that will promote the authority’s local efforts, to meet the increasing need for humanitarian work in the country and launch various relief and development programmes and projects in countries affected by disasters and conflicts.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ERC; Issa Hamad Bushab, Advisor to the Chairman of the Board and Member of the Board of Directors; Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi; Saeed Mohammed Ali bin Rashed Al Mansouri; Ali Mosleh Al Ahbabi; Mohamed Shliwih Al Qubaisi; Ali Ghanem Al Rumaithi; Mohammed Al Rumaithi; Rameem Yousif Al Shammari, and Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, Secretary-General of the ERC and Deputy Secretary-General of the Support Services Sector, the International Aid Sector, the Local Affairs Sector and the Marketing and Fundraising Sector.

During the meeting, Dr. Al Falahi reviewed the reports on the ERC’s humanitarian programmes, development projects, relief operations, emergency response operations, and its humanitarian and current investment projects. The laws on local aid regulations were also reviewed, as well as several items on the agenda of the meeting.
