ENEC displays focus on world-class safety culture at WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017

The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, ENEC, has said that health and safety are on top of its priorities, highlighting the importance of safety culture, which comes as part of ENEC’s role as official Safety Partner and National Gold Partner for the event. This commitment is demonstrated by ENEC’s team of ‘Health and Safety Ambassadors’ at WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017, the world’s largest vocational skills competition currently taking place in the emirate.

ENEC’s team worked closely with international experts to check on any safety hazards in the buildup phase and will continue throughout the event. The initiative will promote important messages around health and safety in the workplace and will educate youth on prioritising safety before embarking on any project.

WorldSkills 2017, taking place over four days at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, ADNEC, aims to inspire young people to delve deeper into technical education and develop skills that they can use for entrepreneurial endeavours or to further their vocational careers. This comes in support of Abu Dhabi Plan, which aims to nurture and develop the next generation of educated, skilled and ambitious youth within the UAE.

Young people from 59 member countries and regions are gathering in Abu Dhabi to compete in 51 different vocational skill competitions. A wide range of skills are featured at the event, including everything from aircraft maintenance, automobile technology, electrical installations, and industrial control through to plumbing and heating.

ENEC Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Al Hammadi, commented, "We are proud to play an important role in WorldSkills Abu Dhabi as we work together to help increase knowledge transfer and skills development amongst youth in the UAE. It is crucial that we continue to educate young people on the diverse range of opportunities they have to be part of the development of UAE industries in the future."

During the event, ENEC will provide information about the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant and how the project focuses on national and international quality standards to ensure the highest levels of safety.
