The Awqaf ministry has asserted it has not been informed by the Salafist an-Nour party of a preacher who attacked the political leadership in the country.
"The remarks made by [an-Nour spokesman Nader] Bakar in this regard were baseless," the ministry said in a statement.
"The ministry has not received any statement from the party and has not been in contacts with Bakar and any officials of the party," the statement added.
"The ministry is following up its preachers and imams and fired two imams in Gharbiya Friday based on reports of its inspectors."
