Head of the Supreme Council of Egyptian Sufi Orders Sheikh Abdel-Hadi al-Qasabi on Sunday called on all Iraqi factions to close their ranks in their battle against by the jihadist Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL).
He urged all Iraqis to renounce violence and control aspects of sectarian sedition.
In a statement, al-Qasabi warned Iraqis of threats posed by the ISIL.
ISIL militants have mostly routed Kurdish forces in the north in recent weeks, seizing more towns, oilfields and Iraq's largest dam.
Backed by US airpower, Kurdish forces later took back control of Mosul dam.
