A body affiliated with the Egyptian Iftaa House has released a report stressing that the phenomenon of Jihad in Syria and Iraq is becoming of growing interest to international think tanks.
International ideology centers are seeking to analyze aspects of the jihadi discourse and its repercussions, said the body which is tasked with monitoring the Takfiri ideology.
The report touched upon the increasing number of European fighters joining the dissidents of Al-Qaeda, seeing in this a repeat of what happened in the wars of Afghanistan and Chechnya in the 80s and 90s.
Religion remains the main reason why those fighters are joining Daesh, the report said.
The body said its findings are based on analysis of messages of jiahdi elements on social networking websites.
