The Egyptian army announced Sunday killing 26 terrorists and arresting 84 others over the past week during raids on four governorates.
The raids targeted terrorist hideouts in Northern Sinai, Ismailia, Port Said, and Daqahliya, military spokesman Mohamed Samir said in a press statement, adding that the terrorists were killed amid an exchange of fire.
The army also seized seven vehicles, 17 non-plated motorbikes, and a number of explosive devices used for terrorist operations, said the spokesman, who added that they had also destroyed 18 cross-border tunnels in Northern Sinai.
Meanwhile, the military foiled attempts for illegal immigration by 148 people, including 137 Egyptians and six Palestinians, in addition to seizing 12 vehicles loaded with cigarettes containing carcinogens, and six vehicles loaded with two tons of drugs.
