Algeria and Egypt have expressed Thursday in Cairo, their support the process of negotiations between the Malian belligerents to achieve an inclusive political solution likely to preserve the unity of Mali and restore peace and security in the Sahel-Saharan region.
In the final minutes of Egyptian-Algerian High Joint Commission, Egypt welcomed the efforts by Algeria to bring to fruition, the negotiation process between the different parts of Mali.
The two parties have also called terrorism "global (scourge) and not limited to a particular region or to any religion," noting that dealing with it "requires joint efforts and coordination of all security tools."
The two sides agreed on the need to challenge the international community about the use of an "all-embracing concept" when dealing with the terrorist organizations, expressing "deep concern" about the spread of terrorism and extremism that threaten stability and development.
They strongly condemned all acts of terrorism, particularly that on October 24 in North Sinai (Egypt).
On this occasion, the two sides stressed the importance of bilateral cooperation with African countries in the fight against terrorism and extremism.
They also emphasized the need to dry up all sources of financing of terrorism and to criminalize the ransom payment to terrorist groups in addition to the fight against various forms of cross-border crime, including trafficking of drug and weapons.
