
The foreign ministers of Egypt and South Sudan have met here to discuss bilateral cooperative relations and several regional issues and matters that concern both sides, mainly ongoing negotiations between the government and opposition of South Sudan.
During the meeting, Sameh Shukry and Barnaba Marial Benjamin exchanged views on ways and means of promoting and cementing cooperation between Egypt and South Sudan in political, economic, trade, educational and agricultural domains, Spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Badr Abdelati said in news statements.
They also discussed water security, cooperation among River Nile countries and preparations, and arrangements for a planned visit by South Sudan's President Salva Kiir to Egypt by the end of this year, he said.
The Egyptian foreign minister reiterated his country's keenness on supporting development projects in South Sudan, the spokesman pointed out.
Benjamin then met Secretary-General of the Arab League Nabil Al-Araby on the significant Arab development and investment role in South Sudan at present.
Benjamin said he had briefed Al-Araby on ongoing coordination between Egypt and South Sudan and relations between his country and Arab nations.
He added that Arab cooperation in South Sudan is based on investment in several areas like agriculture, roads, communications, infrastructure, tourism and electricity.
