Egyptian President Abdulfattah Al-Sisi on Thursday issued a decree awarding Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud an honorary doctorate in humanities from Al-Azhar University for his support to the Islamic and Arab causes.
In July the Council of Al-Azhar University proposed offering the Saudi Monarch the honorary doctorate in appreciation of his efforts in serving the Islamic and Arab causes and his honorable stance on support to Egypt, presidential spokesman Ihab Badawi said. The proposal was approved by Al-Azhar Supreme Council, Badawi noted.
He added that Egypt would always remember the Saudi King's unshaken stances and is "looking forward to fostering cooperation with the Kingdom to realize the interests of the Arab and Islamic nations."
