Minister of Manpower Mohamed Safaan
Cairo - Arab Today

Egypt has underlined its desire that the Union for the Mediterranean would undertake a greater role in the field of employment.

The remark was made by Minister of Manpower Mohamed Safaan at a meeting of the Union's manpower ministers, now in session in Jordan.

He underlined the necessity of regulating the movement of manpower and workforce between the Union's member-states and fighting illegal migration in an effort to prevent terrorist groups from recruiting young people who are seeking a job, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Manpower on Tuesday.

The employment and training system is one of the most important priorities of the Egyptian government, he added.

The move is meant to minimize unemployment and fight poverty, he noted, adding that the Egyptian government is seeking to upgrade the system of employment and training to reach the international level.

The Egyptian government has provided up to 214,000 job opportunities on the local market in the period from January to August this year, he explained
